Cast Iron Home Accents - Attractive, Budget Friendly and Hard Wearing
Especially in the current economic downturn, each dollar that we allocate to renewing or interior design for our houses must really be worthwhile. We want functionality, durability, attractiveness and we want it to be cost effective. Based on this new American future, it makes perfect sense that most of us have decided on decorative black metal home decor accents.
Cast iron is also referred to by many homeowners as wrought iron and although they are not necessarily the same things – they are often difficult to tell the difference in decorating accessories such as furniture, knick-knacks and home accents.
For large scale house projects that involve renovating or redecorating your residential property, decorative black metal is making a huge comeback in every room of the house.
Decorative black metal fireplace accents such as a metal fireplace mantel or mantel shelf look great and will last as long as the house does. If you have a raised den or family room, perhaps install iron stair parts such as a wrought iron railing with paint grade balusters for a spectacular effect.
For your home’s stair set, think about replacing wooden balusters with decorative black metal for a fresh, new look. As you have probably seen in home furnishings retail stores recently (specifically with pub and bar sets), cast and wrought iron looks beautiful paired with satiny woods such as cherry, maple, mahogany and dark oak.
To focus on the walls and floors of your house, you can upgrade your existing decorative baseboards and trim and cove molding with metal rosettes and cast iron accented corners.
In the busiest rooms of your family home – the kitchen and family bathroom – you can effortlessly add a custom wrought iron pot rack or fancy hotel-style towel racks. Metal hinges and drawer and cabinet handles complete the look and will pull the whole project together. Don’t be scared to install a few kitchen corbels in your kitchen for aesthetic interest. If you have an open concept kitchen/family space, use the over-sized wood corbels to create a visual separation between the two rooms.
The best thing about decorating with wrought iron is how well it ages – it only gets nicer with time! It will add value to your property, is easy to keep clean and can stand up to whatever your on-the-go family can throw at it!
